Mom was finally released from Shadyside Hospital on Monday, May 10, 2021. I think at this point she realized how close she came to dying just days before.

They sent her home with iron supplements for her anemia, enough Vancomycin to last the rest of the year, and instructions to contact them if there were any changes with her stomach issues.

My dad had been holding down the fort at home, and he had all her favorite foods ready for her when she got home. The kids came over too, and I could see the stress leave her face now that she was finally home. Zoe had been waiting patiently by mom's chair for her to return too.

Her colorful wigs had arrived while she was in the hospital, so she had fun trying them on in the event she loses her hair from chemo.

Judy and Rich came by for a visit that week, and they brought delicious cream puffs which didn't last long!

Everyone behind the scenes was helping as well. I would be remiss not to mention my kids and friends who make sure Rudy (our Goldendoodle) is taken care of, that AJ has food to eat, and that everyone has everything they need. When I need to stay at my parents, Hannah and Dylan stay at my house with AJ and Rudy. Everyone has really shown up to do their part.

My beautiful friend Laura sent Mom this lovely picture and poem:
